John Watney was club president from 1894-1895.
A member of the well-known family of brewers, living locally. When Crake died he was asked to fill the breach and officially took office in September 1894. He was a generous patron and help considerably in financing the 1895 Tournament. Obliged to move away from the district for business reasons in 1895, he stood down to make way for someone who could give more time to the club.
Taken from the minute book November 1894.
