Worthing 1 v Hastings 2. Monday 12 November 2012 Alex Therrien 207 | 0.5-0.5 | Alan Barton 177 W | David Graham 197 | 1-0 | Paul Kelly 174 B | Matthew Payne 188 | 0-1 | Howard Tebbs 167 W | Chris Jones 188 | 1-0 | Conrado Quintos E155 B | Keith Homeyard 158 | 1-0 | Paul Smith 141 W |
Result 3.5-1.5 On Monday we played a very strong Worthing 1st team in a match where we were out-graded by more than 20 points on most boards. Alan Barton produced a near miraculous draw by perpetual, and may have even had more at one point, in a game where he lost a piece early on in a very sharp opening variation. Paul Kelly had a hard fought game which he may well have been holding until quite near the end. I had a nice game and, despite not finding the best line leading up to the first time control, managed subsequently to find an accurate sequence to force a won pawn ending. Conrado Quintos had a difficult position out of the opening and finally fell to a pretty concluding combination. Paul Smith dropped a pawn fairly early on and was eventually ground down in a major piece ending. Howard
