Hastings v Wanstead and Woodford
Sunday 8 September 2013
Result: 8.5-8.5
I tossed and the call was heads and it was tails so Hastings were white on odds which enabled our team to scrape a drawn match, with Steve Blewitt the last to finish with a close win R + Q v R +Q and a few pawns each. Colin Hooker also secured the win just before Steve finished. Voldi (Blind) on board 14 played a blinder to beat George. Solid draws on 1+ 2+ 7. Adrian should have got a draw but played the wrong Rook move. I missed my chance to 'sac' a Rook for Bishop and 2 pawns with attack.
Note top 10 boards 2.5/10 and bottom 7 boards 6/7.
Alfred Mikurenda had forgotten that he had declined to play when asked, so played a friendly in the Kitchen with Roy Webb.
The match was enjoyed by the visitors and they look forward to next years match.
I suggested to Roy that tea/coffee be put in different coloured cups and left on the table which worked well.
10 boards downstairs and 7 boards upstairs.

Thanks Paul. Cracking Match!!
