Material up and the position completely owned, it was only a matter of time.Board 3: Snorefest. Pieces came off early to an obviously equal position. Drawn in 19 moves.Board 4: Mel played the Fantasy Variation against the Caro-Kann. His opponent went wrong very early and obtained an impossible position. Mel cleared up with considerable aplomb.Board 5: Lawrence managed to positionally outplay his opponent. When the Maidstone man resigned, the material was level but he had not one good move. A cleverly played zugzwang by the Hastings man.Board 6: Jim had a nagging edge the whole game, but the position looked drawish, until his opponent blundered a piece.Ray Brooks.
