"Hello, my name is xxxxxx xxxxxx. I am a faculty member at xxxxxxxxx University in California. Many years ago I purchased an old trophy at a garage sale on Catalina Island. I paid 25cents for the trophy. I took it home and cleaned it up a bit and saw the inscription: Hastings & St. Leonards Chess Club Third Class Cup Presented by HJFS Stephenson Esq Oct 1919 On the back are the names of the winners from 1919 through 1930 I have enjoyed having the trophy on my desk for many years but have always felt that it belonged back at your club. I am leading a study abroad program ... in Ireland and England this summer and would like to make a trip to Hastings to give the trophy to your club. It looks like it's about a two hour journey from London and I'd love a little excursion so it's no problem on my end. Feel free to email and let me know what the best option is in terms of reuniting the trophy with your club. It will make for a great little story for my grandchildren some day! _______________________
