It was a 100 mile round triip on a November Thursday night: fortunately our hosts play in a most comfortable venue to ease the stress of travel. Umberto Jozwiak was early to finish, notching up his first match win for the Club. The opponent contrived to blunder a whole rook early on and after that the game more or less played itself. 1-0 It is comforting to have such an early lead in a 4-board match and Paul Buswell soon reinforced this feeling by reaching a dominant position when the opponent played passively. The Sittingbourne player then sacrificed N for P, unfortunately for him miscalculating badly. Some tricky tactics had to be avoided but captain Paul steered the point home. 2-0 Mason Woodhams was never quite on the pace and lost a pawn in the early middle game and was unable to hold back a controlled and crushing attack. 2-1 Gary Willson came out of the middle game with a very slight positional disadvantage in an ending of double rooks and same coloured bishop. He let a pawn fall and went down in a game which went to the very last minute with both flags hanging. 2-2 PB
