Crowborough played white on odds.
1. P Kemp 0.5-0.5 J Sugden 2. R Elliston ------ R Almond - draw offered likely to be accepted 3. D Fryer 0-1 P Kelly 4. B Tarhon (J) 0.5-0.5 H Tebbs 5. J Higgs (J) ------ A Fleming (We will be claiming a win - not yet conceded)
Likely result 1.5-3.5
Kemp let a good position slip and John secured a draw.
Howard had the initiative but chose not to sac for the attack and the moment was lost and could not make progress.
I won after 1.e4 c5 2. Qh5 d6 3. f4 g6 Qf3. I was told normal is 2.....Nf6 3.Q xc5 Ne4 4. Qe3. Also 2......e6 can be played. In the game my opponent blinked first and opened the position with b4 to my advantage.
R Almonds computer program Houdini gives 0.00. Richard has a Rook and King blockading Bobs central pawns and Bishop. While Andrew's computer program gives 1.5 for his own game. A great Debut from Andrew.
Paul Kelly
UPDATE 8 FEBRUARY:
Andrew Fleming has won his game v Crowborough. Also Richard draws v R Elliston. So we win the match 3.5-1.5. Paul Kelly
